Some easement of the stringent rules for Visa for Indians has now been applied, with Government of India allowing two-way International traffic inside and outside of India.
Those foreign citizens who want to travel to India can now avail of a Visa to India if they are professionals like an Engineer or Doctor which has been dubbed as “Unlock 1” Scheme.
Foreign Nationals can also come to India for business purposes on Indian Business Visa (eVisa India) for business meetings. Also, if the machinery installed in India is of foreign origin, then it can be also repaired by foreign personnel who can apply an Urgent Indian Visa Application.
Also those conducting research are allowed to come to India on Indian Visa (eVisa India), if they have an invitation letter from a recognised University of India.
Design and Software professionals are also allowed to come to Indian on Indian Visa for Business if they have tie ups and projects in India.

Government of India has stipulated a new rule for the Indian Citizens that are stranded outside the border of India. The standard operation protocol was revised for the people of India that are stranded overseas by the Indian Ministry of Home Affairs.
Indian nationals are not allowed to travel overseas except for the following conditions:
- Persons must have citizenship of that country to which they intend to travel from India
- Either the person should have a green card or an OCI card (Overseas Citizen of India)
- Persons must have a visa of another country outside India for a minimum period of 3 months
- Person must have a confirmed offer of employment
Covid-19 has put in this dilemma as workers want to return to their working places. As it is, Indian Visa Online (eVisa India) is suspended for foreign citizens who plan to come to India. Now, this rule also prevents Indians to go overseas on short term visa outside of India.
Indian Visa Expiry and Foreign Visa Expiry
May foreign citizens who are present in India as of June 2020 have their Indian Visa expired. Now they are left here without recourse to renew as the FRRO is also not responding. Indian Citizens are also not able to go back as their foreign visa has expired.
May people are stranded because of an urgent need to travel and are not able to join back with their family. Indian Tourist Visa (eVisa India) is valid for as short as 30 days, and there are over 155,000 people in India who are stranded with an expired Indian Visa Online (eVisa India). There are fewer people with Indian Business Visa and Indian Medical Visa in this category relative to Indian Visa for Tourism.
