India Visa Eligibility

To apply for an eVisa India, applicants are required to have a passport valid for at least 6 months (starting at the date of entry), an email, and have a valid credit/debit card.

e-Visa can be availed for maximum of 3 times in a calendar year i.e. between January to December.

e-Visa is non-extendable, non-convertible & not valid for visiting Protected/Restricted and Cantonment Areas.

Applicants of the eligible countries/territories must apply online minimum 7 days in advance of the date of arrival. International Travellers are not required to have proof of flight ticket or hotel bookings. However, proof of sufficient money to spend during his/her stay in India is helpful.

Detailed/Specific Intent of Visit to be Eligible for an Indian e-Visa

  • Short-term programs or courses must not extend beyond a duration of six (6) months and should not award a qualifying diploma or certificate upon completion.
  • Volunteer work should be limited to one (1) month and should not entail any monetary compensation in exchange.
  • Medical treatment may also adhere to the Indian system of medicine.
  • Regarding business purposes, seminars or conferences may be conducted by the Government of India, Indian state governments, UT administrations, or their affiliated institutions, as well as private conferences hosted by other private entities or individuals.

Who does not qualify for an Indian e-Visa?

Individuals or their parents/grandparents born in or holding permanent citizenship in Pakistan. Those with Pakistani ancestry or passports can only apply for a standard visa through a nearby Indian consulate.

Furthermore, holders of official or diplomatic passports, UN passports, INTERPOL officials, and other individuals possessing international travel documents are not eligible for an e-Visa.
